Temperatures in the Kitchener-Waterloo area (Ontario Canada) were hitting -31 without wind chill today. Their winter this year has been one of the worst in many years in terms of snowfall and coldness. Makes me very glad to be in Nova Scotia! While my N.S. neighbours tell me this is the worst winter they have seen in many years too, it seems wonderful by comparison.
The image above was taken in a park beside our home in Kitchener last March after a very early morning snow/freezing rain storm. The whole world was immensely beautiful (treacherous too). It was so gorgeous out that I donned winter gear over my pjs, grabbed my little point and shoot and headed straight into the park clicking like crazy.
It will forever amaze me how spaces we look at all the time (and become immune to)can be transformed into the most stunning of scenes one can imagine. The image below is the last picture I took of the park in mid-November 2013; just a couple of days before moving to Nova Scotia. The difference in location of these two pictures is that one shot shows the kids play area and less of the mud hole while the other one shows more of the mud hole and non of the play area. Amazing nature.
